Joseph Coe (1782-1852)

Joseph Coe, the son of the Reverend Curtis Coe (1750-1829), was born on June 1, 1782 and died April 22, 1852. He married Temperance Pickering (1788-1864) and, between the two of them, they had six children.

Coe worked as a merchant and shipbuilder in Durham throughout his life. He also compiled and published a two-volume work entitled The True American (1840 & 1841).
