About Sigma Beta Fraternity
Sigma Beta local fraternity was founded in 1921 at the New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts. This fraternity was one of the charter members of Theta Upsilon Omega national fraternity in 1924. Meanwhile, the College became the University of New Hampshire in 1923. After twelve years, in 1936, as part of a national fraternity, they turned in their charter and went back to being a local fraternity using the original name of Sigma Beta.
After their hearing on September 29, 2008 which regarded an incident that occurred on May 13, 2008 the university imposed an immediate organizational dismissal of Sigma Beta. Sigma Beta was found responsible and dismissed for violating student rights, rules, and responsibilities policies.
