About the Green Family

The predominant members of the Green family included Josephine Ada Gerrish Green (grandmother, Thornton Ferry NH, 1846-1929), Thomas W. Greenleaf (grandson, Los Angeles CA, 1894-1988), and his brother Richard Greenleaf (grandson, Westfield Mass., 1898-1969). Both brothers are living and working when they are drafted to fight in the first World War; Richard willingly and Thomas much less so.

About the Green Family Letters

28 letters home to their grandmother from their places of employment and boot camp. Both survived the war. Several additional letters are to and from friends of their grandmother Josephine Green.
