Joe Peidle of Medford MA is a professor of Scientific Instrument Making at Harvard University. He is also an avid photographer, with interests in a variety of subjects, and has his own darkroom.
About the Joe Peidle Contra Dance Photographs
These photographs of contra dancing cover New England Folk Festival Association (NEFFA) festivals, Concord Scouthouse dances, Peterborough NH town hall dances, and dances at the Cambridge VFW hall. They are mostly black and white. Formats include slides, negatives, contact sheets, and prints, along with Peidle's developing notes and comments from community members.
Dancers/musicians pictured include: Bill Olson, Chrissy Fowler, Ernie Spence, Gene Albert, Joan Spence, Ken Prince, Larry Jennings, Lloyd Carr, Ralph Sweet. Venues include NEFFA, the Cambridge Mass. VFW, Wescustogo Hall (North Yarmouth ME), and the Peterborough NH town hall. See box descriptions for full list of individuals pictured.
