About Online Access to the New York Times

Online access to the New York Times through UNH Library includes:

  • 24/7 Breaking News
  • Archives (dating back to 1851) 
  • Games and Cooking (yes, that includes Wordle and the daily Crossword Puzzle!)
  • Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (this content is found in the mobile App; “NYT stories told through enhanced technology”)
  • Daily 360 content - two dimensional, 360° views (with mobile device or using a mouse)
  • Podcasts (including the "Daily" podcast)
  • All multimedia, including video, photography, VR features, and new multimedia to come.
  • Newsletters (there are a variety of topics that you may subscribe to)
  • Spanish and Mandarin Chinese versions of NYTimes.com

How do I sign up for an account through UNH Library?  

Getting online access to the New York Times through UNH Library is quick and easy. Members of the UNH community can register for an account by visiting bit.ly/NYTOnlineAccess and following the steps provided on the page. New subscribers to the New York Times will need to create an account. Be sure to type in “University of New Hampshire” in the school's name section, then follow the instructions based on your location.

What if I’m already a paid subscriber to the New York Times?

If you’re already paying for a New York Times subscription don’t worry, you can still get online access for free through UNH Library. Current registered subscribers with a paid subscription should cancel their subscription before signing up for a free account through UNH Library. Cancel your paid subscription by connecting with a chat agent on the New York Times  Cancel Your Subscription page or by calling (800) 698-4637.

Can I keep my paid subscription information without creating a new subscription through UNH Library?  

Have you been a subscriber to the New York Times and don’t want to lose your account settings or have to resubscribe to newsletters and podcasts? Good news, you can keep all your previous account settings when you register through UNH Library!

After you have canceled your paid subscription, register through UNH Library and select: Already has an account. You will then be prompted to log in using your existing username and password (note: this is your personal username and password, not your UNH login information).
