About the Scholarship
The University of New Hampshire Library invites all undergraduate and graduate students who use primary resources from the Roland D. Sawyer collection to apply for the Sawyer Scholarship.
For the 2026-2027 cycle, we will be awarding up to three scholarships of $3,000 each.
Applications are due November 2, 2026.
How to Apply
Applicants are required to consult the Sawyer Papers in the Milne Special Collections and University Archives for research on topics including the political and social movements of the late 19th and early 20th century, New Hampshire history prior to 1969, or genealogy.
Top-scoring applicants will demonstrate creative scholarly engagement with primary source materials from the Sawyer collection, excellent citation practices, and meaningful engagement with their chosen topic.
The committee will review applications in November and inform applicants of the results by mid-December. Winners will be announced by the UNH Library, and Sawyer Scholarship recipients are encouraged to submit their completed research projects to the UNH Scholars Repository.
Questions about this scholarship can be sent to Elizabeth Slomba, Special Collections Librarian.
