On Tuesday, March 24, the UNH Library hosted a “Long Day Against Procrastination” on both the Durham and Manchester campuses. In Durham, Dimond Library’s largest conference room was reserved from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for students who wanted a place to focus on their studies, and representatives of the UNH Graduate School, Center for Academic Resources, and Connors Writing Center were on hand to answer questions and provide additional resources. In both locations, librarians provided research and writing support as well as coffee, tea, snacks, and pizza to fuel the hours of studying.

"This first Long Day Against Procrastination was designed as a supportive reset for students after spring break, and we’re excited to keep building on it as a way to help students stay connected and make progress during the busiest part of the semester," says User Engagement and Student Success Librarian Elizabeth Fowler.

The event was initiated by Social Sciences Librarian Tricia Boucher and organized by Boucher, Fowler, Life Sciences & Agriculture Librarian Megan Bresnahan, Engineering & Physical Sciences Librarian C.J. Wong, and Professional Studies Librarian Carolyn Gamtso. Attendees were enthusiastic about the event, saying: "This is awesome! Thank you so much for doing this,” "This is just what I need," and "This is the best day ever!"

The UNH Library plans to host another “Long Day Against Procrastination” in the fall semester and hopes to make it a semi-annual event.

"One of our goals is to create welcoming spaces where students feel comfortable asking for help, making progress on their work, and staying energized with food and support throughout the day,” says Boucher. “We're excited to build on it next semester!"
