About Sally (Towle) Hersey (ca. 1802-1848)

Sally Towle or Towler (b. ca. 1802) married James Hersey (d. Manchester 1869) at Epsom on January 29 1828. Sally died of 'consumption' in Manchester at age 46, 21 Dec. 1848. Both are buried in Manchester, N.H., where James was appointed postmaster in 1849.

The Sally Towle Hersey Church Application is a one page handwritten document requesting formal admission to the Congregational Church at Epsom, N.H. It consists of Sally (Towle) Hersey's story of conversion at a revival given by a Rev. Mr. Curtis, her continuing spiritual struggles, and her finding peace in the church. No other family or community members are listed by name.
