John Greenleaf Whittier Letter and Photographs

A four page letter to Sarah Orne Jewett, London, England, July 3, 1882 in which Whittier expresses delight at the fact that Jewett is writing again. He also describes a trip to the Isles of Shoals and Celia Thaxter’s growing interest in “her spiritualistic experiences.” Letter accompanied by addressed and stamped envelope. 2 photographs included.
