Resident of Deerfield, N.H. He was the son of Benjamin Hoitt and Sarah Pilsbury, born 27 May 1797 in Rockingham County N.H., married Lydia Cook 26 April 1818 in Epping N.H., and died 26 May 1876 in Deerfield.

1839 bankbook of John M. Hoit of Deerfield, N.H., which documents his deposits and withdrawals. The account book also contains four printed pages that explain the design and rules of the New Hampshire Savings Bank in Concord, N.H.
