About Marlys S. Waller
Marlys S. Waller is the co-author of the classic folk dance text Dance A While. Before this she helped found the early western square dance magazine Foot ‘n Fiddle in Texas during the 1940s. During the mid 20th century she became friends with caller Ralph Page. Waller later moved to Seattle, Washington.
About the Marlys Waller and Ralph Page Correspondence
This collection consists of approximately 20 letters between author Marlys S. Waller and New Hampshire dance caller Ralph Page. They are mostly related to updates between the 3rd and 4th editions of Dance A While, and cover dance history and style in detail. Several draft copies of the contra dance chapter from the book are included. Since Waller and Page were close friends, there is substantial commentary on travels, mutual acquaintances, music, current affairs, and the like.
