University Archives Announces Publication of John E. Carroll Papers
Professor Emeritus John Carroll
The Milne Special Collections and Archives (SCA) at the University of New Hampshire Library has published the finding aid for the John E. Carroll Papers, containing materials related to the research, service, and teaching of Professor Emeritus John Carroll of the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment. Carroll taught at UNH for 43 years, has been a longtime collaborator and advocate for the University Archives, and lives in the Durham area with his wife as a fixture of the campus community.
The collection of papers features several important phases of Professor Carroll’s research career at UNH in addition to records related to his long-time service to the school. Notable areas of research work include his Canada-United States transboundary environmental policy work, ecology and religion, and local food and farming within the state of New Hampshire and the New England region.
In each of these areas, Carroll researched and published extensively; served as a subject matter expert representing UNH, the state of New Hampshire, and the United States; and taught students with dedication and passion.
“The Milne Special Collections and Archives is privileged to host Professor Carroll’s papers,” says University Archivist Kai Uchida. “His research portfolio and longtime service to UNH provide an ideal example of the types of faculty papers we’d like to host in our repository.”
Professor Carroll’s papers can be accessed by appointment during SCA’s normal operating hours, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.
In addition to Professor Carroll’s manuscript collections in SCA, his extensive publication record can be found through the library search box and in the Scholars Repository. An oral history which profiles his life and his work will also be available later this summer.
The UNH Library is grateful to Professor Carroll for the donation of his papers.
