About the Association of Historical Societies of New Hampshire
The Association of Historical Societies of New Hampshire, Inc., was formed at a meeting held on September 19, 1950, in “The Little Red School House,” Wakefield, with 13 local historical societies represented. Incorporated in October 1951, with 24 Charter Members, the non-profit Association grew by the end of its first 25 years to include over 100 local societies, museums, libraries, and other organizations formed for general historical or allied purposes.
Through periodic meetings consisting of programs of state-wide and regional interest, and through publications, the Association stimulates the activities of – as well as assists in the exchange of information among – its member societies in the identification, acquisition, preservation and/or dissemination of historical knowledge, materials, artifacts, and sites.
About the Association of Historical Societies of New Hampshire Papers
The collection consists mostly of copies of minutes, publications, and survey forms (1968) of individual towns regarding their “Historic Assets.” Also included are letters, clippings, and photographs concerning “town bicentennial quilts.”
