About Selina H. Bean

Selina H. Bean (1828-1860) was the second child of Phinehas Bean (1784-1870) and Susannah S. Bean (1796-1872). She was born near Concord, N.H., and lived in Fisherville (now part of Penacook). Her siblings were Joshua S. Bean (1827-) and Sophronia E. Bean (1837-1898). She married John Jay Thurston (1813-1897) in 1858 at Boscawen, and died of 'fever' two years later leaving no children.

About the

The autograph book was evidentally a gift from a "Mrs. S.E. Davis" in 1857. It contains mostly biblical inscriptions, many with only initials. The last three inscriptions are from people in Newburyport Mass dated 1886-1889; evidentally the book was inherited and reused after Selina's death.

Names include: Nathaniel Mitchell, M. E. Abbott, Judith Mitchell of Hooksett, S. Mitchell of Hooksett, H. P. Marston of Grafton, Hannah K. Gross of Fisherville, Clara Kenny of Loudon, Emma Cheny of Washington VT, Harriet S. Messes of New London NH, Harriett J. Capton of Wilmont NH, John E. Abbott of Fisherville, and others.
