About Brooks K. Webber Papers,

Brooks K. Webber was born in Webster (Boscawen), New Hampshire in 1837. He was educated at Colby Academy in New London and went on to study law in Newport and Woodstock, Vermont. Webber was admitted to the Bar in 1859. He was a veteran of the Civil War, where here served as first Lieutenant for Company 1, 16th Regiment of New Hampshire Volunteers. Upon returning from the war, Webber settled in Hillsborough and worked as an attorney. He was active in town affairs, serving in a number of positions: Representative (1868-69), member of the Constitutional Convention (1876), Superintendent of Schools and member of the Board of Education, Board of Health, Water Commissioner, and Supervisor of the Checklist. He died in 1903.

About the Brooks K. Webber Papers,

This collection contains several hundred letters and documents from the files of Brooks K. Webber, Hillsborough attorney, spanning the years 1841-1941. The documents primarily regard his legal practice and probate business–the selling and settling of estates. There are, however, some personal letters from Ned and Clara Webber to their father. Furthermore, the collection includes correspondence from individuals with no known connection to Brooks Webber as well as materials collected and written by Justin Henry Shaw, Piscataqua Pioneer and local historian.
