About the UNH Cross Country Team
Male track team members competed in cross country races as early as 1916, but it was not until 1922 that the Athletic Association amended the constitution making it a varsity sport. Paul Sweet, hired as track coach in 1924, is given much credit for the success of the teams. A women's cross country team was begun ca. 1980.
