About the Historical Films and Videotapes
This series contains films created by the UNH Office of Public Information. Many of them were shot by Clement Moran using 16mm film. They have been converted onto VHS. They cover a variety of campus events from the 1930's and 1940's. There are additional videotapes created for use in museum exhibits.

Tape 9 | Mother's Day (May 17, 1941)
Length: 11:00; silent, color; Master Tape: #2. On May 17, 1941, UNH celebrated Mother's Day as well as the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the institution in Hanover, NH. The celebration included a Ben Thompson impersonator who rode on in a horse drawn carriage and recited his will to his attorney. Stillings (Class of 1900), who had recently given the University of New Hampshire $228,000.00. Stillings had spent his life working for the railroads and had amassed a small fortune. This interview discusses Stillings' life and his donation to the University of New Hampshire. |

There are other game films that will be added Should they be transferred to VHS from 16mm. A few of the films do not contain complete games. Tape 23 | UNH Historical Films With Jere and Jean Chase
Format: VHS; These tapes are of Jere and Jean Chase watching and narrating historical UNH film footage from this series. This tape ran on NHPTV as part of fund raising activities for public television in December 1993. The film footage was used by "New Hampshire Crossroads" in their production of The University of New Hampshire: A Centennial History. 2 copies. |

Length: 2-hour loop; Date: 2004; Scenes copied from various UNH films made of winter carnival activites through the years. Includes snow sculptures and skiing events. This loop was created for the University Museum exhibition "Steam Into Winter: Winter Carnival Traditions at UNH". |
