About Joseph D. Batcheller

Professor Joseph Donald Batcheller worked at the University of New Hampshire from 1944 to 1987. He was a professor in the English Department and Director of Theater. In the early 1960's, Batcheller helped to create the Speech and Drama Department which replaced the English Department's "Speech Division". He also helped develop the Allied Arts/Blue and White Series, which brought international artists to UNH, and Project T.R.Y. (Theater Resources for Youth).

About the Joseph D. Batcheller Papers

This series contains the papers of Prof. Batcheller while working at the University of New Hampshire. They include materials for the courses he taught, prompt scripts for UNH theater productions, and general correspondence.

These records were tranfered from the Department of Theater and Communications after Batcheller died in the Spring of 1988.
