About Thompson Hall
When the New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts was transplanted from Hanover to Durham in 1893, Thompson Hall was one of the campus's newest buildings. Built the same year as the College's transfer, Thompson Hall was named in honor of the farmer who had deeded his acreage for the creation of a state agricultural college. In April 1990, William Prince urged the Board of Directors of the Alumni Meritorious Service Award Association to undertake the project of ensuring that Thompson Hall would be placed on the National Register of Historic Places. They suceeded in their task, and Thompson Hall was placed on the National Register on December 6, 1996.
