About Leon W. Hitchcock
Leon W. Hitchcock taught at the University of New Hampshire for 46 years. He was born in West Medway, Massachusetts on June 21, 1886. After graduating from Medway High School he enrolled in Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he earned a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering in 1908. He came to UNH in 1910 and taught electrical engineering until his retirement in 1956. He also served as chairman for his department from 1922-51 and as Acting Dean of the College of Technology during the World War II years, from 1940-45.

This collection consists of files kept by Leon W. Hitchcock during his career at the University of New Hampshire, the bulk of which concerns student war training during World Wars I and II. Box 3 contains photos and ca. 100 letters commemorating his 1957 retirement.
