About the Executive Secretary
The position of Executive Secretary was created in 1918 to assist the President of the University of New Hampshire. Its purpose was to assist the president in daily procedures and to organize events on campus. The title changed in 1937 to Assistant to the President, but the duties remained the same.
About the Executive Secretary Files
This collection contains the files of the Executive Secretary and the Assistant to the President of the University of New Hampshire. As such, it covers the University careers of three different individuals who held the position: Edward Y. Blewett, 1930-39; Arwood Northby, 1939-44 and Francis E. Robinson, 1944-45. While the files mostly deal with the various summer conferences and institutes held on the UNH campus, there are also files referring to the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP) and the Officers' Training School of the New Hampshire State Police.
