The President's Commission on the Status of Women was formed in 1972. The commission is made up of ten University women representing faculty, PAT's (professional, administrative, technical staff), operating staff, graduate and undergraduate students. Conrad F. Peterson graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1932. While at school he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity and editor of the 1932 Granite Yearbook his junior year. This scrapbook was created by Conrad F. Peterson and contains mostly photographs. Many of the photos were used in the 1932 Granite Yearbook. The binding for the scrapbook was made by Conrad.

The Culver Literary Society at the New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts in Hanover, NH held its first meeting on December 12, 1871. The purpose of the Society was to improve the elocution, composition and debate skills of its members. The 430 volume library collected by the Society was donated to the College Library in 1894. E. E. Cummings, 1894-1962, Harvard-educated poet, prose writer, and critic. Seventeen signed letters and postcards from E. E. Cummings, mostly to Seymour Lawrence of the Atlantic Monthly Press. All of the letters and most of the postcards are typescript. Most were mailed from Silver Lake, N.H., where Cummings maintained a home.

The Cunningham family of Peterboro N.H. and Rockville Ill. was an important early settler family in both towns, migrating west by wagon in 1860 with the Mandville family. The two families later intermarried. Each family contained numerous Revolutionary, War of 1812, and Civil War veterans. The UNH Dairy Bar is housed in the historic train station which was built in Lynn, Ma. 1896 and moved to Durham in 1911. All passenger service to Durham stopped in 1967 and the empty train station was sold to UNH for $1. On August 1, 1990, Dale Nitzschke (pronounced Nit-ski) became president of the University of New Hampshire. A native of Iowa, Nitzschke earned his bachelor's degree with honors from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and his M.Ed. and Ph.D. degress in guidance and counseling from Ohio University. Daniel C. Currier (1841-1905) was born in Springfield, NH, later moving to Grantham, NH where his father Hiram and Daniel were sawyers. On August 8, 1862, at the age of 21, Currier enlisted and became a Corporal in I Company of the 14th Regiment of New Hampshire Volunteers and was mustered out on July 8, 1865 in Savannah, Georgia. Daniel Hopkinson was born in Bradford, Essex County, MA on January 22, 1783, the son of Daniel and Hannah Hopkinson. He married Sarah Poore (1793-1867) in 1816. They had one daughter, Abigail. The School of Health and Human Services was established as the Division of Health Studies in 1969. The following year it was renamed the School of Health Studies. In 1990, it was reorganized as the School of Health and Human Services. Prior to 1969 health studies courses were part of the College of Liberal Arts curriculum.
