    The School of Health and Human Services was established as the Division of Health Studies in 1969. The following year it was renamed the School of Health Studies. In 1990, it was reorganized as the School of Health and Human Services. Prior to 1969 health studies courses were part of the College of Liberal Arts curriculum. This series contains the minutes for the meetings of two committees connected with the School of Health and Human Services: the Executive Committee and the Faculty Committee.

    Viola C. Codman (1832-1931) may have been a Shaker for some period of her life, though she later married and had children. She may or may not be the original author of the music portion of the book. Has the name Viola C. Codman of Brattleboro, Vermont written inside. About half the book is holograph copies of hymns with shape notes, the other half contains newspaper clippings of recipes.

    Shirley Frances Barker, author, editor, and librarian was born in Farmington, N.H. in 1911. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire and later received masters degrees in both English and Library Science. She wrote essays, poems, short stories, and novels and was a staff member of the Towle Writers Conference at the University of New Hampshire from 1938 to 1940.     Isaac Royall Jr. (1719-1781) of Medford MA was a sugar plantation owner, slaveholder, and early funder of the Harvard Law School. Dr. Simon Tufts Jr. (1726-1786) of Medford MA was one of a prominant family of doctors. Receipt given to Isaac Royall on August 6, 1777 by Simon Tufts for turning in eight pounds in counterfeit New Hampshire bills to the Brooks and Odiorne committee.

    Hazel and Clayton Sinclair operated Rock Rest, an inn primarily for African American guests in Kittery Point, ME. They also helped establish the first Seacoast branch of the NAACP. The collection consists of a small amount of material directly related to Rock Rest as an inn. The bulk of the collection is made up of correspondence and personal belongings of the Sinclairs, their families and friends.

    Gov. Frederick Smyth was a Trustee and the Treasurer for the Board of Trustees of the New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts from 1866 to 1897.     Ernie Spence (1925-2011) was a contra and square dancer and dance organizer in western New Hampshire, starting ca. 1950. He was responsible for first bringing to dances many young people who would later become important leaders of the dance scene in their own right.
